Investigations and policy advice

We carry out independent workplace and professional conduct investigations, and help regulators and other organisations develop sound policies and procedures. Our work spans education, health and social services.

Independent investigations

We have carried out workplace and professional conduct investigations for professional regulators, school boards and other organisations. Our investigators are experienced and licensed, and they are used to working within the legislation, codes and policies that apply to each profession.

We can provide in-depth investigations and findings that a board or regulator can rely on when it comes to make its own decision.

  • Investigators who are enrolled barristers and solicitors of the High Court
  • Private Investigator licences granted by the Private Security Personnel Licensing Authority
  • Experience across the legislation, codes and policies of a range of professions
  • Particular experience in working with teachers and school boards

How an investigation runs

  1. 1ScopeWe agree with you what is to be investigated, and the terms of reference, before any work begins.
  2. 2EvidenceWe gather the documents, records and other material relevant to the concern.
  3. 3InterviewsWe interview the people involved and give each of them a fair opportunity to respond.
  4. 4AnalysisWe weigh the evidence against the relevant codes, policies and legal framework.
  5. 5ReportWe provide a written report that sets out our findings and the reasons for them.

“Loved the way they took each bit of evidence, triangulated it and applied it to the relevant Codes or policies.”

  • “The Board thought the report was fantastic.”
  • “Very happy.”
  • “Well worth it.”

Policies and procedures

We have worked with a number of New Zealand regulators and other organisations to develop their policies and procedures. Our team of policy and business analysts can review the procedures you already have, or help you develop new ones that are clear, practical and consistent with the obligations that apply to you.

Our chief executive, Jim Lindsay, often leads large-scale reviews of organisations' policies and procedures, drawing on his experience in governance and security.
